7-14-21   THOUGHTS

It has always amazed me how one event can be viewed in so many different ways.  Our current National scene is a great example.  No one can agree on anything because they don’t seem to want peace and agreement.  .
Isa 5:20   Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!
Wherever you use technology to search, you will find the above verse in play! While politics is the joke in the middle of all this (it isn’t at all funny), our LOSS OF A COMPASS  in our present world is frightful.  We fail to discern the good from the evil!

John 11:43-53   When He had said these things, He cried out with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come forth." 44  The man who had died came forth, bound hand and foot with wrappings, and his face was wrapped around with a cloth. Jesus said to them, "Unbind him, and let him go."
43  Therefore many of the Jews who came to Mary, and saw what He had done, believed in Him. 46  But some of them went to the Pharisees and told them the things which Jesus had done. 47  Therefore the chief priests and the Pharisees convened a council, and were saying, "What are we doing? For this man is performing many signs. 48  "If we let Him go on like this, all men will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation." 49  But one of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, "You know nothing at all, 50  nor do you take into account that it is expedient for you that one man die for the people, and that the whole nation not perish." 51  Now he did not say this on his own initiative, but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus was going to die for the nation, 52  and not for the nation only, but in order that He might also gather together into one the children of God who are scattered abroad. 53  So from that day on they planned together to kill Him.

The verses just read give the facts of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead.  As I read, even the Jewish leaders don’t question that fact.  When it’s all done, you have one group of people who want to worship Jesus, and one group that wants to kill him.  The facts don’t change.  Surely, “personal perceived profit” is an issue.  Caiaphas was concerned that Christ would gain such favor,  that the Romans would come and wipe out the Jews.  Jesus had to die to avoid that!  God’s Spirit gave Caiaphas that prophecy, and told us that Jesus was to die for the sin of all mankind.  It will be “a gathering together into one the children of God.”  The Jews did kill Jesus and unknowingly ushered in the ETERNAL VICTORY planned by God from the beginning of time.   About 40 years later, the Romans basically abolished Judiasm as Caiaphas knew it, in the destruction of Jerusalem.
Php 2:10-11    so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11  and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

My Prayer:
Give us discerning hearts O God to tell the true from the false!  May we ever choose the true, and the right and you O Father. Help us to spend our lives honoring your name.  Keep us from the lure, and the lust and the lie of Satan.  Fix our every intention on you O God of heaven.
In the name of Jesus we pray       Amen
